Ken Hurst said the city's transparency portal lists 26 flock cameras but his group counted 34 in the field and urged the city to update the portal, provide a map of camera locations and restore user-ID data in audit exports. He said the portal's 'reason' field is sometimes blank and that the user ID field was replaced with redacted characters, limiting community oversight. "Please bring back the user ID field," Hurst said, and asked council to restate expectations for officers to complete reason fields when accessing the data.
In a separate comment, Jacqueline (no last name provided) raised concerns about increased flight training in nearby airports and potential lead pollution from piston-engine aircraft. She cited expert commentary and urged officials to consider health impacts on children, the elderly and other vulnerable groups.
Council members acknowledged the concerns and asked staff to follow up with the police department and other appropriate agencies to clarify portal practices and to gather more information on overflight issues. No formal actions were taken at the meeting.
