Roanoke City Council on Nov. 18 adopted and endorsed its 2024–25 legislative program for presentation to the city’s General Assembly delegation and authorized the city’s legislative liaison to advocate on the city’s positions during the 2025 session.
Council member Patricia White Boyd, chair of the legislative committee, moved adoption and said the resolution will allow the legislative liaison flexibility to address regional items and follow up with the Roanoke Regional Commission’s priorities. Council members discussed inserting regional priorities such as support for Roanoke Regional Airport runway expansion, the Blue Ridge Innovation Corridor and rural roads funding where appropriate.
The clerk read a resolution title adopting the legislative agenda and the clerk called the roll; all members present voted "Aye" and the resolution passed.
Council directed staff to coordinate with the legislative liaison and bring any outstanding regional priorities into the packet for the delegation. There was no formal dissent recorded.
