Brandywine board hears October finances; ESSER liquidation expected by Nov. 30

The Brandywine School District board reviewed its October financial report at the November meeting, with a presenter noting the district’s revenues and obligations are on track as the fiscal year progresses.
According to the finance presenter (speaker 22), local revenues are 95.4% received and total revenues, including state and local sources, are 88.9% received. On expenditures, the presenter said the district is 36.31% obligated (encumbered and expended) compared with 34.59% at the same point last year.
The presenter drew attention to the liquidation period for ESSER (federal pandemic relief) funds and other federal grants, saying the district expects encumbrances and invoices tied to those earlier obligations to be fully liquidated or expended by Nov. 30. "We are tracking to be fully, not only encumbered, but then fully liquidated or expended by November 30," the presenter said.
Finance committee work will continue on a revised committee charter and screening process after the committee chair’s resignation, and the presenter said a final budget recommendation based on the Sept. 30 unit count will be brought to the board in December.
No formal vote on the financial report was recorded beyond the board’s acceptance for discussion and subsequent motions to accept monthly reports in committee.
