Hamtramck’s City Council on Feb. 24 approved a resolution amending the city manager employment agreement for Dr. Adil Adlani, including a $3,000 one-time signing bonus and other contract clarifications.
Council members discussed the hiring process at length. Several members emphasized that the hiring followed a competitive process with applicants screened by HR and that the selected candidate had the highest scored evaluation. One councilmember raised concerns about the timing of the added contract item, saying it should have been included when the manager was originally hired; others defended the process and said qualifications—not religion or language—guided the selection.
Dr. Adlani, present at the meeting, later pledged to serve the whole community with integrity and professionalism. The council approved the contract amendment by roll call.
