Commissioner Constantine read a proclamation honoring U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Charles Hedge Jr. for his military service and veteran‑advocacy work; the board adopted the proclamation by unanimous voice vote. Hedge accepted the recognition and thanked his wife, veterans groups and fellow Legionnaires for their support.
Commissioner Zimbower then read a proclamation declaring February 2026 Black History Month in Seminole County. The proclamation cited local historic communities including Georgetown and Goldsboro and referenced early educational leaders such as those connected to Hopper Academy and Crooms Academy. The board approved that proclamation unanimously as well.
Both proclamations were presented for photos and brief remarks; no formal policy or financing decisions were tied to the proclamations. The board moved on to subsequent agenda items after the recognitions.
