Luna County commission adopts subdivision manual pilot, approves property purchase settlement and other routine items

Resolution 25-70 — purchase agreement to resolve litigation: County counsel described a 2023 lawsuit and that the county and city will jointly purchase property to resolve the dispute, with the agreement providing for development or repayment within five years. The commission voted unanimously to authorize the purchase agreement.
Certified 2025 property tax rates: The commission received the certified rates from the state and approved them as required; commissioners noted they do not set the state-determined rates and the motion to adopt was recorded as unanimous.
RFP award — CDBG management (Stantec Consulting): Staff explained the Community Development Block Grant requires professional management; commissioners approved awarding the CDBG management contract to Stantec Consulting. The contract will be funded through the CDBG grant, not county general funds.
Consent agenda and personnel: The consent agenda — which included the appointment and oath of two newly hired sheriff deputies — was approved on a roll call vote.
Indigent claims: The claims board convened, reviewed 20 claims totaling $94,014.84, and the commission accepted the claims as presented before reconvening as the county commission.
