Heather summarized grant-funded activities: acquisition of 147 safety vests for volunteers, a downtown wine-barrel planter program in partnership with Main Street, a $500 allocation for additional downtown trees, and continuation of a $10,000 youth stipend that supports cohort activities. She described a new court youth group program designed to allow young people (up to age 24) to perform community service through the program and use funding to pay court fines in some cases.
Other items: Keep Luna County Beautiful will participate in Keep America Beautiful conferences; it ran a larger cleanup tied to a community event that produced 51,000 pounds of trash when including event waste; staff proposed a downtown tree inventory and a merchant lunch training on social media for businesses. Heather asked commissioners to attend cleanups and encouraged each commissioner to lead a cleanup in their district.
The commission thanked the presenter and recognized volunteers who supported the program. No formal county funding decision was made during the meeting.
