Miss Maslowski told attendees that the homestead/property tax relief application deadline is March 1 and that residents should file at the county homestead office at the courthouse in Media.
She emphasized the application is short and that applicants must be residing in the home for which they seek the tax credit. “Once the application is approved, you will no longer need to do that year to year,” Maslowski said. She added that the district’s homestead reduction amount can change slightly depending on the number of approved applicants and that last year’s reduction averaged about $781.
Maslowski also said the district removed 127 properties from the homestead list because those properties were not primary residences or were businesses; those removals returned funds to the pool available to approved homestead applicants. For questions, she directed residents to contact the district tax office.
The presenter noted March 1 falls on a Sunday and that the county may extend the filing date to March 2; residents should check with the county homestead office for any extension and for in‑person filing instructions.
