Transportation Board approves revised work plan, tables officer election until March

The Los Alamos County Transportation Board unanimously approved the revised Attachment A work plan after a motion and second; the board also reiterated a previously moved action to table election of chair and vice chair until the March meeting.

At the outset of the meeting a member moved "that we table election of chair and vice chair until our March meeting." The motion was seconded and the board voted in favor; the clerk later restated that the election is tabled until March. Later in the agenda the board reviewed the revised Attachment A for the work plan, a motion to approve the work plan as reviewed was made and seconded, and the vote to adopt the work plan passed unanimously.

During member reports, Member Altier raised concerns about the proliferation of signs on public rights-of-way and expressed interest in bringing a motion to support an ordinance or other regulatory approach to restrict sign placement. Chair Hampton said he would discuss the matter with staff and Council liaison Martinez.

Vice Chair Talley used her member report to announce she will not apply for the next term and thanked board members and staff for their service. Staff provided updates in a report that noted Los Alamos County was redesignated as a bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community, the Denver Stills roadway and utility project has begun contractor work, council approved a hawk signal on New Mexico 4 (between La Vista and Sherwood) pending DOT agreements, and staff are evaluating Saturday transit service and wayfinding sign installations.

The board previewed next meeting items — including officer elections and a Trinity Drive update — and adjourned.
