Lee County commissioners confirm appointments, approve routine contracts and set RFP direction

At its Jan. 15 meeting the board confirmed a slate of appointments to advisory boards, approved multiple cooperative education service (CES) contracts including airport striping and facility upgrades, certified fixed assets, approved safety-net fund payment and directed staff to pursue RFPs for indigent and economic-development funding.
Lee County's Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 15 approved a series of routine resolutions that together constitute the business portion of the meeting, confirming appointments, awarding cooperative contracts, and setting direction for several upcoming procurement processes.
The board confirmed multiple appointments to boards and advisory committees (Resolutions 26January005R through 26January018R and related items) by recorded votes. A cluster of appointment confirmations covered the Energy Alliance, Airport Advisory Board, DWI Advisory Council, Environmental Services Advisory Board, Fair and Rodeo Board, Memorial Committee, Planning and Zoning Board, Roads Advisory Committee, Solid Waste Authority and other local boards. Several commissioners noted vacancies and minor changes to district representatives before approval.
Contracts approved by vote included: a cooperative contract for runway and taxiway striping at Lee County Regional Airport (approx. $295,000); a CES agreement to add 11 perimeter/license-plate cameras at the Lee County Detention Center ($6,771.69); a Honeywell air-quality enhancement installation at the detention center ($105,644); cooperative and construction agreements for electrical upgrades and remodeling at the Emergency Management and Environmental Services complex (D and D Automation & Electric LLC, $1,088,353.63; Anisa Construction remodeling $1,220,739.08). The board also approved a CES cooperative award for striping and other routine maintenance matters.
On financial actions, the commission certified the second-quarter payment for the state safety-net care pool in the amount of $3,049,529.37, approved budget adjustment #2 (including the county's previously authorized Workday HR/payroll software purchase), and certified fixed assets totaling $396,889,001.38 for FY2024–25. Staff gave a monthly finance report showing roughly $168 million in operational revenues and highlighted oil-and-gas revenue trends.
During discussion items commissioners authorized staff to proceed with RFPs for FY27 outside-entity indigent funding (18 agencies; current total $1,000,573) and economic development funding (4 agencies; current total $4,245,982). The Fair and Rodeo Board presented vendor-selection criteria and an updated fair book for upcoming commission review.
All motions described above were moved, seconded and passed by recorded roll call votes unless otherwise noted.
Next steps: staff will execute approved contracts, publish required certifications and proceed with the RFP processes if directed.
