Lea County approves $100 million increase in IRB authorization for Gainer Solar project

Lea County commissioners on Nov. 2 approved an amendment to increase the county's taxable industrial revenue bond authorization by $100,000,000 for the Gainer Solar project, after a detailed update from the developer.
Sully Ford, lead development project manager for the Gainer Solar and Gainer Best projects, told commissioners the request reflects higher capital costs driven by tariffs, tightened supply chains, increased domestic content requirements and raw material inflation. "We are only asking for a $100,000,000 increase for the total solar CapEx," Ford said, and stressed the project footprint and schedule remain essentially unchanged.
