Jones said sheis a Clovis native returning from work with the American Quarter Horse Association and plans to meet commissioners and local stakeholders in the coming week to align expectations for the facility.
Commissioners thanked OVG for hiring a local candidate and for supporting Casey in operations. Several commissioners raised a separate concern: financial reports for the Event Center were not available at the meeting because OVG is mid-transition to uniform accounting software and the regional finance team is still reviewing output. "I was disheartened to see that we didn't have the financials," one commissioner said, pressing for timely, audited information.
Ortiz acknowledged system migration delays and said the company had paused distribution of financials until the regional team could validate numbers; he estimated the county would receive accurate statements in the coming weeks and apologized for the delay. Commissioners also raised preliminary proposals for a temporary ice rink; Ortiz said quotes ranged around several hundred thousand dollars (a previous county exchange referenced figures near $290,000) and outlined site options (livestock center or the commercial building) and technical constraints (3-phase power, flat surface, footprint about 4,000to 4,500 square feet for a community rink).
There was no vote associated with the presentation; commissioners expressed support for Jones and requested that OVG provide the delayed financial statements as soon as they are finalized.
