Commission canvasses Nov. 4 returns, approves related claims and consent items

Madam Clerk presented the Curry County canvass of returns from the Nov. 4, 2025 election and asked the commission to approve the county-only canvass results. The clerk reported 4,283 ballots cast in Curry County (~17% turnout): 365 absentee-by-mail, 1,151 early votes and 2,767 election‑day ballots. She also read two local ballot-question tallies included in the county canvass: the Curry County local option GRT question (1,987 for; 2,258 against) and the City of Clovis Municipal GRT question (1,593 for; 1,650 against). The clerk noted the state canvass board would convene Nov. 25 to certify results and that automatic recounts and a state-mandated post-election voting system check (audit) are scheduled.
The commission moved to approve the board of canvas as presented and voted in the affirmative.
On financial claims, the commission approved three items: a negotiated BSA Hospital claim (original billed $57,533.77; recommended approval at $31,643.57 after a 55% discount), a Covenant Medical Center claim (total billed $139,841.09; processed under a long-standing agreement at the $10,000 cap), and Plains Regional Medical Center claims totaling $4,033 (recommended and approved at a negotiated amount of $1,290.56).
Earlier in the meeting the commission approved the consent agenda items 1–10 by unanimous roll call.
