Weston committee reviews AED inventory, training after OSHA program review

Erica (Speaker 4) told the committee the district recently underwent a random Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) program review that looked at science labs, music spaces and maintenance areas. She said the review team provided a list of findings and that some items would be easy fixes while others would require updated written procedures or documentation: "We recently just had a conference call with the director who oversaw, the visiting OSHA consultant," she said, noting the district would address training records and equipment servicing.
Committee members agreed it would be useful to provide a simple inventory to level-set which AEDs are onsite and where, and to confirm who receives annual training (nurses, athletics staff and administrators were cited in the regulation). Members considered the operational inventory informational and not a policy change but asked staff to bring confirmed counts for board-level review.
Next steps: staff will compile and circulate an updated AED inventory and provide documentation of training levels and servicing records to ensure compliance and to inform any regulatory updates requested by OSHA.
