PTO reports $97,800 raised in 2023–24; $75,000 pledged to PLE playground, group seeks grant diversification

The Pewaukee School District Parent-Teacher Organization updated the board on 2023–24 fundraising at Monday’s meeting, reporting $97,800 in funds raised and a goal to spend down reserves from prior years to support current priorities.
Stephanie Fryboth, who identified herself as PTO president, said the organization supported music programs, dances, playground equipment and classroom teacher grants. She told the board the PTO’s goal this year was to spend down COVID-era reserve funds and contribute about $75,000 to the PLE playground, while continuing to allow two rounds of teacher grants to address classroom needs at the beginning of the year and again once teachers see in-year needs.
Fryboth described primary fundraising sources last year as the Raise Craze campaign and coin races, noted spirit nights with restaurants such as Culver’s and Jersey Mike’s, and referenced corporate grants from companies labeled in discussion as Meyer and Meijer. She said the PTO will pursue grant opportunities to diversify revenue and move the primary fundraising drive to fall to reduce pressure on families.
Board members asked clarifying questions about student directories (families opt in at registration; directories are produced at the school), outreach to additional restaurant partners and the PTO’s plans to meet with principals to coordinate requests for school support. Fryboth said PTO leaders plan a communication push so parents better understand where funds are being spent.
