Board approves Xerox lease, OHSAA membership, field trips and course guide

The Tallmadge City Board of Education on Feb. 18 approved a set of consent and business items that included a 60‑month document‑management agreement with Xerox Business Solutions, renewal of Ohio High School Athletic Association membership, several overnight student trips, and the district’s 2026–27 high‑school course guide.

The 60‑month Xerox agreement, presented as item 3.3, carries a stated minimum monthly lease payment of $7,979 and was procured through the Equalis Group purchasing consortium. Staff said the contract aligns with existing machines on campus and reduces the district’s monthly cost compared with the previous arrangement. "We really tried to sharpen the pencil as much as we could," a district technology representative said, noting an estimated savings versus the last contract.

The board also approved the annual OHSAA membership for Tallmadge Middle School and Tallmadge High School for the 2026–27 school year and consented to several overnight trips, including a varsity softball trip to the Ripken Complex in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., March 22–26, 2026; coaches will provide supervision and athletes are responsible for transportation to the complex. Approximately 20 athletes are expected to attend the softball trip, staff said.

In course‑guide discussion, staff highlighted popular newer electives such as a civic‑engagement course and an "adulting" class that covers life skills and college‑application support. Officials cautioned that some elective offerings may be limited if voters do not approve the May levy, and the district posted the full guide with course descriptions as part of the meeting materials.
