District updates: buses stabilizing, CERC/rec timelines, Franklin Forward site work delayed by city reviews

District administrators reported several operational and facilities updates Sept. 10, including improved bus-route reliability, expanded social-emotional learning at the middle school and a fall round of pre-ACT/ACT testing to generate early data for teachers.
The district administrator reported that bus routes are running on time after initial startup issues and that middle-school student services are showing daily SEL prompts. The high school held pre-ACT testing and created senior-specific programming (college and technical-college prep, LinkedIn and essay workshops) to provide immediate data and preparation.
On facilities, staff said the Franklin Forward project is delayed because several conditional-use and site-plan items at the city level have been tabled or returned with requested changes. "We should be moving ground around to the north side of the school, and we should be getting ready to demo the pool in a couple weeks. All of that's kind of on hold," the district administrator said, noting site-plan approval may not be secured before November and that staff continue to meet with city officials to resolve outstanding items.
Separately, the CERC building and an attached rec department remain on schedule to move staff in November, and an on-site clinic is set to open by January 2026 (staff said possibly earlier). The district flagged upcoming community events (Education Foundation consignment sale, glow run, Sabre marching band performances, homecoming activities) and encouraged participation.
The board followed up with questions about timelines and asked staff to return with substantive updates when available.
