The board approved the first reading of the policy package to return in March for second readings and final adoption. Among items discussed, board members asked about policy 6608 — accountability and oversight of fundraising and crowdfunding distributions — and whether corrective-action authority should remain explicitly shared between the superintendent and the board. Administration said it would make the suggested change and bring revised language for second reading.
The board also reviewed a new policy (5135) that requires unique student identification numbers for any issued student cards and explicitly states those numbers are not tied to Social Security numbers; the administration recommended approval of the first reading and will present final language in March. A related consolidation motion deleted policy 9211 and folded it into policy 9215 for numbering alignment; that motion also passed on first reading.
Board members did not take final action on the policies; second readings were scheduled for the March meeting.
