Commission elects chair and vice chair; staff briefs BoardDocs tablets and new Tyler Tech permitting system

At the start of the Feb. 17 meeting the Planning Commission approved the consent agenda and then conducted elections for 2026 officers. Commissioner Nye Ivy was elected chair after a motion and second and a voice vote with no recorded opposition; Commissioner Reiswig was elected vice chair in like fashion.
Staff provided an orientation to BoardDocs tablets that commissioners will use to review meeting materials and explained how the public can access agenda attachments through the city's website. Staff reminded commissioners that supporting documents may not always be attached to every meeting packet, but are accessible in BoardDocs for prior meetings and referenced materials.
Separately, staff updated the commission on the city's rollout of a Tyler Tech permitting platform implemented last November. City staff said the system is accepting electronic building, public works and fire permits while paper submittals are still accepted during the transition. "Those that are repeat customers and have gotten used to it have acclimated quickly," a staff presenter said, and the city will continue go-live support for several months while seeking user feedback to improve clarity for applicants.
The commission set its next regular meeting for March 17 and adjourned the session at 7:02 p.m.
