West Valley board approves Title I schoolwide plan and routine consent items in 5-0 votes

The West Valley School Board approved routine consent items and the West Valley High School Title I schoolwide plan in separate 5-0 voice votes during its September meeting.
Mr. Strong moved to approve the consent agenda, which included minutes, vouchers and payroll reports, employment contracts, resignations and leave requests. The board chair called the vote and the motion carried unanimously, 5-0.
On the Title I schoolwide plan, Stacy Drake, assistant superintendent, told the board the high school is in its second year running a schoolwide Title I program so federal funds can support whole-school instructional coaching rather than only targeted pull-out services. "We chose the schoolwide program so that we could serve all kids," Drake said, explaining the district will use Title I funds to strengthen Tier 1 instruction across classrooms identified by the school's improvement framework.
A board member moved to approve the schoolwide plan; the board voted by voice and the motion carried 5-0. No further questions were raised before the vote. The board then moved on to reports and adjourned at approximately 8:07 p.m.
