The Oshkosh City Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee opened, completed a roll-call vote to approve minutes from its July 22 meeting and handled routine agenda items including member introductions and event notices.
A member moved to approve the July 22 minutes and another seconded; during the roll call each named member voted "Aye," and the motion passed. Roll-call names were read aloud by the chair during the vote.
Members reviewed upcoming civic events and calendar items: the city budget workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 28; the Pean Arts Center will host sensory-friendly visiting hours in partnership with the Autism Society of the Fox Valley; and Latino Fest is scheduled in Pierce Park in Appleton. Committee members also highlighted an Oshkosh Area School District board meeting set for Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. at 215 South Eagle Street, where trustees plan to consider removing several LGBTQ books from district libraries; the committee noted that residents who wish to speak must register early and will be limited to three minutes.
Members also announced leadership changes: Marina Kanalski said she is moving out of state and this will be her last meeting; the committee will elect a new chair at next month’s meeting. The meeting adjourned following a motion and a voice vote.
