Manhattan mayor: Village wins ARPA grants, partners on Eastern Avenue public-safety complex

The Mayor of Manhattan said the village has secured two $500,000 American Rescue Plan Act grants to replace two water mains — one on Manhattan Road and one on Front Street — each longer than 1,000 feet, to protect water quality and reduce service interruptions.

The grants fund what the Mayor described as "important" water-main work, and the village also partnered with the local fire district on an Eastern Avenue Public Safety Complex. Under the partnership the village will provide sewer and water infrastructure and the fire district will provide land for a planned public-works facility, an emergency-management (EMA) building and a pad-ready commercial site the village can market for future development. "The new firehouse is to be completed by 2025," the Mayor said.

The Mayor said the village secured an additional $500,000 ARPA grant specifically for water and sewer work at the Eastern Avenue location. He framed the projects as part of a broader effort to maintain reliable water delivery and to create sites the village can promote to potential private investment.

No formal vote or ordinance was recorded in the address; the Mayor presented these as funded projects and partnerships rather than final contractual approvals. The village did not provide a construction schedule beyond the Mayor's statement that the firehouse is expected by 2025.
