During discussion Goguen explained item C‑1: it authorizes the chairman to sign a letter to the California Fish and Wildlife Commission requesting a one‑fish salmon limit for 2026. Goguen said the Trinity River fishery had been closed for three consecutive years due to low returns and that last year’s improved return and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service assessments support reopening a limited fishery to restore tourism and local economic activity.
The board recorded unanimous support: Supervisors Goguen, Lewyler, Cox, Brownfield and Chair Carpenter Hurst each voted "Aye." No member requested further discussion or a separate vote on other consent items.
