The Lake County Board of Supervisors on the record adopted a proclamation designating Feb. 21–28, 2026 as National Future Farmers of America Week and invited students from four local FFA chapters to the dais.
Rebecca Harper, executive director for the Lake County Farm Bureau, brought students from Upper Lake, Kelseyville, Lower Lake and Middletown to the meeting and asked them to introduce themselves and describe their chapter activities. An on-record reader recited the proclamation, which cited national FFA membership of 1,042,245 students in 9,407 chapters and noted more than 13,000 FFA advisors and agriculture education teachers nationwide.
Frederick Eason, introduced himself as president of the Lower Lake FFA chapter and said, “I'm so excited to welcome you guys to the National FFA Week.” Other students identified their chapter roles, including Zach Bleckman as Kelseyville chapter president and Chesney Henry as Middletown chapter president. Students described chapter activities such as spirit days, speaking competitions, leadership training, and hands-on agricultural education, and several attendees emphasized that FFA prepares members for college and careers both in and outside agriculture.
Supervisor Crandall thanked the students and FFA advisors for their work, saying, “Thank you all for for doing the work you do,” and noted the proclamation is an annual recognition of the program's contributions. The proclamation was stated as "passed and adopted" for the chair to sign.
The board did not take additional legislative action on the item beyond adopting the proclamation. The proclamation will be signed by the chair as noted during the meeting.
