Summary
During open reports, an unidentified Lake County supervisor disclosed accepting gifts from a ranch owner in 2025, said the gifts were below California's reporting threshold and were reported on their 2025 FPPC filing, and noted they had voted Feb. 10, 2026, to allow the ranch to use the county seal on a plaque.

An unidentified supervisor disclosed during the Lake County Board of Supervisors' open-session reports that they had accepted gifts in 2025 from the owner of a ranch for which they later voted.
The supervisor said they presented and voted in favor of a Feb. 10, 2026, request for the ranch to use the county seal on a plaque marking America’s 250th birthday. The supervisor told the board they had “overlooked the fact” that they had accepted gifts from that ranch’s owner in 2025 but that those gifts were below the California reporting limit and had been reported on the supervisor’s 2025 filing with the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC). “Because the gifts were under the reporting limit, there was no legal reason or conflict that would have prevented me from voting on this item,” the supervisor said. “However, I wanna be transparent and make this disclosure.”
The disclosure does not, on its face, indicate a statutory disqualification. The supervisor said the gifts were reported on their FPPC filing for 2025 and that they believed no legal conflict existed. The board did not announce any subsequent action, referral or formal ethics review during the meeting.
The disclosure came during the supervisors’ routine calendar and travel reports and was the most significant ethics-related statement made during that item. No formal motion or vote related to the disclosure was recorded in the meeting transcript.
The board’s routine reports continued after the disclosure without additional board direction recorded in the transcript.
