Staff said the design-build firm (selected through an RFQ process) submitted a GMP close to $1,595,000; with a recent $5,000 donation the working budget stands at approximately $1.6 million. Project documents include surfacing, a variety of accessible equipment, and supporting site work. Staff described the contract as design-build, despite language in the packet that briefly referenced construction management at-risk; the board confirmed the procurement approach as design-build.
Josh Ward and project representatives said the team adjusted the scope to fit available funds, losing one or two primary pieces of equipment but preserving educational and accessibility goals. The stated goal is to complete construction by Sept. 1, weather permitting.
The motion authorized town administration to finalize contract documents and direct the town attorney and staff to review the agreement prior to execution. The board approved the motion by voice vote.
