Select Board advances short-term rental bylaw language; town eyes registration software

Select Board members reviewed proposed language changes to Article 17, the town's short-term rental bylaw, and reiterated that by statute the Board of Health is responsible for implementing many of the bylaw’s provisions.
Town Manager Mike Renshaw said the administration has been evaluating software platforms to manage short-term rental registrations and reduce staff workload. "We have one that we've identified that I think is gonna go a long ways to... taking some of that burden off the staff," he said.
Officials stressed that the bylaw’s implementation approach will be essential to limit administrative burden on the town health agent and to provide clear registration and enforcement processes. The board noted Article 17 received amendments during the warrant process and that further discussion will continue at upcoming meetings before the Annual Town Meeting.
