Bonner County opens rock‑crushing bids, remands six offers to Road and Bridge for review

Bonner County officials opened six time‑stamped bids for rock‑crushing services covering Districts 1, 2 and 3 on Feb. 23, 2026, and voted to remand the submissions to the Road and Bridge department for further review and recommendation.

Speaker 1 called the special Road and Bridge meeting to order at 11:25 a.m. and said legal counsel Nate Adams had advised the county may receive bids up to the posted deadline but cannot accept late submissions; Speaker 1 added that all six bids before the panel were time‑stamped as timely. "The county can receive bids up to the deadline. We cannot accept bids that are late," Speaker 1 said.

Two firms submitted offers. For District 3, Peak Sand and Gravel Incorporated submitted a total base bid of $119,713.90; the same firm submitted no bids for Districts 1 and 2. Woods Crushing and Hauling Inc. submitted bids for all three districts with the following total base amounts as read aloud at the meeting: District 3 — $124,939.90; District 2 — $253,134; District 1 — $244,675. Speaker 2 read the first District 3 bid aloud: "Total base bid amount is $119,713.90." Speaker 2 also read Woods Crushing amounts during the proceeding.

After the bids were read, Speaker 2 moved "that we remand these 6 bids over to road and bridge for analysis and recommendation," and Speaker 4 seconded. There was an opportunity for public comment and board deliberation; none was recorded in the transcript. The clerk recorded roll call votes as three "Yes" responses and Speaker 1 announced the motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
