Jo Farnsworth, representing the Small Business Administration, used the public-comment period to alert San Rafael residents and businesses that Marin County was added to a federal disaster declaration and federal disaster loans are available to assist recovery from king-tide tidal flooding that occurred Dec. 31 through Jan. 5.
Farnsworth said the local disaster loan outreach center is at 1600 Los Alamos Drive, 3rd Floor, Room 301; customer-service staff help with applications, eligibility, mitigation and refinancing questions. "Loans are for up to 2,000,000 for businesses and nonprofits, up to 500,000 for homeowners, real property, up to 100,000 for personal property," she said. She described interest rates and terms, including that terms may run up to 30 years and that there are no payments and no interest accrued for the first 12 months from first disbursement.
Farnsworth advised residents and businesses that the outreach center would close in San Rafael on Friday and move to Stinson Beach next week, with a later move to Corte Madera; she supplied informational packets to staff and said she would send digital copies to commission members. She also noted the application deadline for physical-damage loans is April 6.
Contact and location details were given during the session and Farnsworth left materials with staff for community distribution.
