Among the items the council approved was authorization for the mayor to sign an updated agreement with Omnia Partners and a motion to buy additional public-safety cameras from Carahsoft Technology Group for a stated amount of $166,174.75, with the speaker saying, “This purchase will be made using funds from the 2024 DCJS Police Technology Grant.” Both motions were seconded and passed by voice vote.
The council also authorized the mayor to sign an agreement for 2025 Police Traffic Services funding from the New York Governor’s Office traffic safety committee in the amount of $21,330. The chamber approved unpaid internship agreements allowing the police department to host interns from Elmira College and Mount Saint Mary College; a council member said the agreements were reviewed by corporation counsel.
Personnel items approved included a permanent appointment for employee #359 after completing a probationary period and a motion authorizing a sick-bank donation arrangement to benefit employee #0354. The council also approved allowing the Port Jervis Police Department to teach the DARE program at a local school; that motion carried by voice vote.
Finance reported three quotes for a replacement server for the police department and the council authorized purchase from SpinnerTech (Magna 5) for $14,209.60. That purchase was presented with documentation of competitive quotes and passed by voice vote.
