Councilor DiGarello reported that 26 candidates graduated the Port Jervis Police Department Youth Leadership Academy on Aug. 22 after two weeks of training at East Main Street Elementary School. He credited program staff and partners — including detective Kyle Mitchell, investigator Robert Bridal, officer Nick Kozwick, sergeant Dan Miglianico and community partners who provided meals and river safety experiences.
Mayor Dominic Seglise announced a backpack and school supplies giveaway scheduled for Friday, Aug. 29, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Orange Square Park, coordinated with a state senator and the Port Jervis Police Department. Seglise also told the council the city was notified it would not be downgraded by Moody's and "will, in fact, stay at the a 3 rating," thanking staff who helped with recent audits.
