Downtown Christmas market, tree lighting and a reservation-based Dial-A-Bus shopping trip announced in Port Jervis

Laura Meyer, a signatory for public comments at the council meeting, told the council the 11th annual downtown Christmas market will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Port Jervis with about 125 vendors, nine food trucks, music performances (including the Jingleheimer German band) and horse-drawn carriage rides. Meyer said events will take place at the Erie Trackside Manor, the Smith Mercantile Building, and curbside downtown, and announced a holiday lighting (peoples choice) contest for residents within Port Jervis city limits.
Council members and staff also announced the Tree of Valor lighting on Dec. 6 at Orange Square Veterans Memorial Park and described the citys plan for a reservation-based Dial-A-Bus shopping trip on Saturday, Dec. 13 (depart City Hall at 9 a.m., return around 3 p.m.) to the Galleria Mall/Orange Plaza; reservations are required and the Dial-A-Bus dispatcher may be contacted at (845) 856-7999 per the mayors announcement.
The council approved the 2026 City of Port Jervis holiday schedule for city hall and union employees during the same meeting. Officials said event flyers and reservation information will be posted on the city Facebook page and in public locations around the city.
What happens next: Event organizers will finalize logistics and public notices; residents interested in the Dial-A-Bus trip were directed to reserve seats with the DPW dispatcher.
