FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind. — At its Feb. 9 meeting the Franklin County Community School Corporation heard its monthly financial report from district finance staff Kendra, who presented fund balances and brief explanations for month-over-year changes.
Kendra said the education fund balance as of Jan. 31, 2026, was $6,119,027.66, down from $6,827,979.23 a year earlier. "The operations fund balance as of 01/31/2026 was $521,836.62," she said, noting that figure had increased compared with the prior year. She reported the rainy day fund balance as $4,164,641.37 (a year ago $4,303,400.92) and year-to-date investment interest of $29,988.89 (compared with $34,373.68 a year ago). Kendra told the board an end-of-month timing issue meant interest from a large account was not posted for the month and will appear as a two-month influx next month.
Board members asked for clarifications. A trustee raised a question about a sharp year-over-year decline in the latchkey fund; Kendra said she is reviewing attendance and usage data for November and December and will report back to the board when she has answers.
The financial presentation was provided as a discussion item; no budgetary actions were taken at the meeting.
