Whitko school board approves 2025–26 handbooks, Magna Math and field trips

The Whitko Community School Corp school board approved several routine and instructional items during its meeting, including the 2025–26 staff and student handbooks, the Magna Math online curriculum for grades 9–12 and multiple field trips.

The board first took up the consent agenda — minutes from June 16 and June 23, payroll claims for July, checks and transfers, financial reports and listed personnel changes — after a Committee member moved to approve the business reports and consent agenda. Chair led a voice vote and the motion passed. "All those in favor, please signify by saying aye and raising your right hand," the Chair said before calling the motion carried.

Under new business the board considered item 7.1 and approved the 2025–26 staff and student handbooks covering administrators, certified and noncertified staff, food service, substitutes, transportation and students at elementary and junior/senior high levels. A Director moved the motion and the Chair called for the voice vote; the motion passed.

The board also voted to adopt Magna Math as a supplemental online resource for grades 9–12. A Committee member moved the adoption; after the Chair called for a voice vote the motion passed. The board then approved the field trips presented under item 7.3 following a motion and second.

All actions on the agenda were approved by voice vote with no recorded roll‑call tallies in the transcript. No public commenters signed up on agenda items. The meeting record shows routine approvals and curriculum adoption; the board listed upcoming events including a ribbon cutting and open houses on Aug. 11 and the next regular meeting on Aug. 18.
