The Whitko Community School Corporation opened a public hearing at about 5:00 p.m. to accept public comment on the proposed 2023–2025 collective bargaining agreement with the Whitko Classroom Teachers Association. The chair said the hearing was convened to gather comments before the agreement is finalized.
"This is a public hearing to allow for public comments prior to the upcoming collective bargain agreement being finalized," the chair said, adding that "the formal negotiation period begins now through 11/15/2025." The chair also said two additional public hearings will be scheduled and that ratification of the 2023–2025 agreement will occur on or before Nov. 15, 2025.
No members of the public had signed up to speak. After soliciting comment and seeing none, a motion to adjourn was made and seconded; the chair called the vote and members answered "aye," after which the chair declared the meeting adjourned.
The hearing provided an early procedural opportunity for public input on the district's bargaining timeline; the board will reconvene at later public hearings during the negotiation window before any ratification vote.
