Board approves consent agenda including new hires, resignations and student trips

The Sunman‑Dearborn Community School Corporation board approved its consent agenda at the Sept. 12 meeting, accepting a revised personnel report and permission for two overnight student trips.
Dr. Jackson, superintendent, presented the personnel section and recommended approval. He said the board had five requests for medical leave and recommended hiring Julie Ernst as an East Central High School homebound teacher; Jeremiah Vickers as an East Central High School custodian; Kelsey Gerhardt as an instructional assistant at North Dearborn Elementary; Ashlyn Hodge as a Bridal Elementary instructional assistant; Anita Parsons as an instructional assistant at East Central High School; Catherine Clark as a North Dearborn instructional assistant; and Alicia Shackleford as a food and nutrition associate at East Central Middle School. He also listed resignations including Stephanie Broughton (Bright Elementary instructional assistant), Harley Ward (North Dearborn food and nutrition associate), Diana Cheek (East Central High School dance team coach) and Anita Parsons (Summit Elementary food and nutrition associate).
Dr. Jackson also noted extracurricular and travel items on the consent agenda: FCCLA fall rally for middle and high school students in Danville, Ind., Sept. 24–26 and the FCCLA National Leadership Institute in Orlando Oct. 18–22. "I recommend approval of those consent agenda items," Dr. Jackson said.
The Chair moved to approve the consent agenda; the motion was seconded and the board approved it by voice vote.
The approvals put the recommended hires and overnight field trips on the district’s roster and allow the district to proceed with staffing and student travel logistics. The meeting record does not include individual roll‑call vote tallies.
