South Montgomery trustees unanimously approve 2026 budget, bus replacement and capital plan

The South Montgomery School trustees voted unanimously to approve a set of financial and policy actions for 2026, including a bus replacement plan, a capital projects plan, transfers from education to operations, 2025 appropriations adjustments and the 2026 budget.
Chair (speaker 1) called for a motion on the resolution to approve the 2026 bus replacement plan. "Motion by Mr. Mason, second by Mr. Reeves," the chair announced; the board approved the resolution on a voice vote recorded as 6–0.
The board next approved the 2026 capital projects plan (motion by Mr. Watson, second by Ms. Hess) and a resolution to transfer funds from education to operations for 2026; both measures passed on unanimous voice votes. The board also approved appropriations reductions for 2025 (motion by Mr. Mason, second by Mr. Watson) and then approved the 2026 budget (motion by Mr. Reese, second by Ms. Hess), each by a 6–0 vote.
Before the action items, the chair said the consent agenda carried; total payroll and claims for the month were reported as $1,440,717.37. Later in the meeting the board voted to adopt updated board policies requiring tonight’s approval; that vote was recorded as unanimous as well.
No votes failed, no abstentions were recorded, and the board took no recorded executive-session action during the items described in the transcript.
