Board approves a slate of contracts, renovations and a settlement; multiple items passed unanimously

At its meeting the South Bend Community School Corporation approved a series of action items spanning student services, facilities and legal settlements.

Contracts and service agreements passed on the consent or action agenda included:

- Beacon athletic trainer contract (action item 9.01): motion moved by a trustee and seconded from the floor; roll-call recorded Aye votes from trustees identified in the minutes and the motion passed with six recorded Yeas.

- Elevate Youth Mentoring, Inc. (9.02): trustees voted to approve the mentoring organization’s engagement to provide youth mentoring services; roll-call recorded unanimous support among present trustees.

- People Driven contract (9.03): despite an initial recommendation against approval in the packet, trustees moved and approved the contract by roll call.

- Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP (9.04): trustees approved a districtwide fire-alarm, sprinkler and suppression inspection and maintenance agreement.

- McKinley Elementary roof overlay and renovation (9.05): the board approved the renovation project.

- Legislative services engagement letter with Kroger, Gardius and Regis (9.06): the board approved an engagement letter for legislative services.

The board also approved a confidential settlement agreement and general release (closed-session item); the roll call recorded five Yeas and one Abstention, and the motion passed.

Each motion was recorded with mover and seconder on the floor and roll-call votes were read into the record for transparency. Several consent-agenda items were pulled for separate votes and one personnel item was approved with a recorded abstention.
