District receives Title I award; administrators warn of falling assessment grant funding after shift to iLearn checkpoints

He described the assessment grant award as significantly lower than in the prior year and warned the board that further cuts were possible with continued state policy changes.
Board members asked clarifying questions about how the iLearn checkpoints differ from previous assessments and whether the new checkpoints include deeper-dive follow-up testing. Dr. Herloff said iLearn checkpoints are more directly tied to summative assessments and that some diagnostic depth available in the district's former assessments may not be available in the same way. Trustees agreed the dyslexia screening requirement will continue to be funded, but several members expressed concern about the potential for additional funding reductions in future years.
The board approved the Title I grant as presented.
