Board approves summer gym floor and video-board projects, along with routine consent items

At its regular meeting, the Scott County School District 1 school board approved two summer facilities projects and completed a slate of routine consent items.
Superintendent Jones asked the board to proceed with replacing the gym floor (estimated about $465,000) and to install new video boards and scoreboards from Daktronics (estimated $122,000). Jones told the board the athletic department will reimburse part of the cost over five to six years using revenue from sold advertisements. The board moved and approved proceeding with those two projects; the motion passed 5–0.
On the consent agenda the board approved minutes from the May 19 meeting, claims numbered 9136–9229, and a set of personnel actions that included hires (Mitchell Prince, Jacob Dunn, Jeremy Boswell, Bailey Joe Terry) and transfers and resignations (Elizabeth Toddell, Deborah Cornett transfers; resignations from Mackenzie Wells, Michael Wells and Theresa Batman). Those consent motions carried on recorded 5–0 votes.
Jones also presented and the board approved the 2627 school calendar (teacher day July 31; first student day August 3; last student day May 21). Board members asked timing questions but approved the calendar by motion.
Separately, Jones reported facilities issues still under review: locker replacement (roughly estimated at $500,000) likely to be phased or deferred to next summer, a pending roofing assessment for leaks, and parking-lot recoating and repainting scheduled for July to be finished before student registration.
