Board OKs Seabird bid for vocational building, approves boiler and elevator work

On a separate facilities item, the board discussed a 33‑year‑old boiler. Clerk (speaker 2) reported an HFI repair estimate near $22,400 and a replacement quote from RG Mechanical of about $56,900. Staff member (speaker 1), summarizing contractor assessments, said repair is possible but not guaranteed: “He said we could repair it, but he said I'm not gonna stand here and tell you that a year from now that you don't have another leak.” The board approved moving forward with replacement (motion named RG Mechanical to install the new boiler) after debate about long‑term efficiency and available rebates.
The board also addressed an elevator that had been out roughly 15–18 months. Clerk (speaker 2) said one vendor estimated $59,610 and DC Elevator offered to repair for $49,000 initially and proposed a repair/maintenance package; the district recommended DC Elevator and proposed using GeoBond 2019 funds for the work at about $43,000. Trustees approved the repair and accepted DC Elevator’s maintenance proposal as presented.
