The Pike County School Corp. board adopted its 2026 budget and capital projects plan and approved a transfer resolution to move funds between accounts at its Oct. 9 meeting.
Clerk (speaker 2) told trustees the district’s combined bank balance was $3,374,796.97 and presented the transfer resolution, saying: “The amount will not exceed 1,700,000.0,” which the board approved after a motion by the Chair (speaker 4).
The budget figures the board adopted include a debt‑service request of $2,051,650 with a tax levy of $2,217,460 (rate 0.3348), an education fund budget of $15,363,705 with no levy, and an operations budget of $10,581,467 paired with a levy of $7,995,785 (rate 1.2072). Clerk (speaker 2) summarized the combined proposed total as roughly $27,996,822 with a total levy of $10,213,245 and an overall tax rate of about 1.5020.
Board members moved and seconded the adoption of the budget and the capital projects (motion made by the Chair; second recorded by Committee member (speaker 3)); the board approved the measures by voice and hand vote.
Why it matters: the adopted budget sets the district’s spending and tax levy for the coming year and funds capital projects and operations. The transfer resolution allows the district to move up to $1.7 million from operations to the education fund to cover shortfalls or timing differences once final invoices are in.
What’s next: the clerk said one invoice remained to finalize the exact transfer amount and that staff would email trustees the final figure when available.
