District staff presented details of bus routes and special-education runs and described operational challenges that affect daily timing and student pickups.
The staff member told the board the packet includes route spreadsheets (pages 87–169) showing start and stop times. The presentation highlighted variability caused by household schedules and alternative drop-off locations: staff noted examples such as a cluster of roughly 60 students living within a short route segment and the need to balance longer rides for a single student against efficient drop-offs for several others.
The staff member said special-education trips and driver pay are listed in the packet; one example read aloud in the meeting cited Brick Acres as performing a trip for $20. A former bus driver on the dais and other board members asked operational questions about turnaround points, safety and how drivers and coordinators negotiate route adjustments.
On enrollment, the staff member said a class-by-class review in the district's Harmony system showed 1,123 students, but that the state's NE report returns a different number; staff said they are awaiting additional state-provided data to reconcile the discrepancy. The staff also reported 62 pre-K students in the local count. The board asked staff to follow up with the state report to resolve the difference in totals.
The staff also reported some facility-maintenance issues, including exhaust fans that were not working; repairs are pending required power or parts. The meeting concluded after the chair noted upcoming meeting dates.
