Board approves purchase of walk‑through metal detectors using bond funds

CFO Kyle Meeley described the devices as “top of the line,” noting they are already used by several local venues and can be adjusted for sensitivity via a simple app. Meeley said the units will let students pass through without removing personal items in many cases, and that secondary screening by an administrator or SRO would follow any detector alert.
Meeley told the board the purchase will be funded from bond proceeds and therefore will not impact the operations account. Board members asked how many doors would be equipped (two doors initially) and how the district will reallocate existing, newer detectors as older units are retired.
A motion to approve the purchase was made and seconded; a roll‑call vote recorded Aye from all members present and the motion carried.
