So this isn't a new benefit. It was somehow just removed, so we're adding it back in."
The draft replaces the term "instructional assistants" with "paraprofessionals" to ensure consistency, adds a transportation assistant maintenance position (to be Mike King's role), and updates the board contribution amounts on the statement of benefits: $7,800 for employee-only coverage; $10,650 for employee-and-spouse or employee-and-children; and $17,250 for family coverage. Dr. Bennett also said bereavement verbiage was added so administrators, directors, and classified employees mirror the CEA agreement, and a blackout policy was added for paraprofessionals, clerical staff and nurses restricting use of certain days near holidays or testing without approval.
Dr. Bennett said he will bring the revised statement of benefits back next week for the board’s formal approval.
