District recommends CDL bus-driver training with repayment clause for early departures

"Once CDL and the Indiana school bus driver certification is completed, the trainee will be eligible for hire as a substitute or a permanent bus driver," Dr. Bennett said. The proposal includes a repayment clause: if a trainee leaves the corporation within 12 months of completing the CDL training, the employee shall repay the full cost of certification training upon severing employment, with exceptions if the training was required by the corporation, the trainee retires, or becomes incapacitated.
Dr. Bennett said he will bring the recommendation back next week for the board's formal approval; no hiring or contractual commitments were approved at this meeting.
