The Bedford Public Schools Board of Education voted to accept an offer of $310,000 for a career-and-technical-education (CTE) home the district’s students built at 3360 School Road in Temperance.
Superintendent Dr. Schultz told trustees the district received five offers after a well-attended open house and the listing was provided at no charge by Key Realty. He recommended “Offer 5” — for $310,000 — because, he said, it included fewer contingencies, used local title and lending services and anticipated a quick 14–15 day closing. “It’s a beautiful home,” Dr. Schultz said, and he called Offer 5 “a very, solid deal.”
A board member moved to authorize the resolution to accept the purchase offer under board policy; the motion was supported and approved by roll call. The board’s roll call recorded each member voting in favor and the chair stated the motion carried.
Several trustees praised the CTE program and its educational value. Trustee Dee highlighted the students’ learning, saying the experience is “priceless” and that the financial returns will be reinvested into future builds. Dr. Schultz said the district’s accounting tied roughly $150,000 in costs to the home but that proceeds feed the program’s next cycle; he said the district expects the program to be self-sustaining after several builds.
The board also discussed minor punch-list items and noted volunteers and donated services would help finish final landscaping and small repairs before closing. The district reported that some offers had requested proration of July taxes, while the accepted offer left taxes in arrears (the purchaser will pay the July tax bill). The superintendent said the buyer waived an inspection and had a strong preapproval, factors supporting a fast close.
Next steps: the district will finalize the sale under the accepted offer’s terms and complete remaining punch-list items prior to closing.
