The board approved several personnel and labor items during the meeting.
Alex presented a three-year master agreement with the Bedford Food Service Association (24 employees, MEA-affiliated) that would run from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027. The first-year wage increase ranges from about 7% to 9% depending on classification, with years two and three at roughly 3% annually; the agreement also increases uniform, boot and shoe allowances and establishes longevity payments to improve retention. A motion to approve the master agreement passed on roll-call vote.
Administration then asked the board to acknowledge Michigan tenure for several teachers listed by name; the board moved and acknowledged tenure for Abigail Klum, Megan Lansinger, Amanda Mitchell, Timothy Shroyer, Morgan Virgilz and Danielle (Dan) Williams as presented.
Finally, the board approved the BEA resignation of Stephanie Martin, a special-education teacher at Douglas Road Elementary.
Board members publicly thanked food-service staff and the business office for their work on the audit and for supporting negotiations.
