The Bedford Board of Education accepted a donation from TutorSmart to support the SOS program at Jackman Road Elementary and took three personnel actions during the meeting.
Chrissy from the business office announced the donation, saying it will fund wages for about 16 high‑school students to provide roughly 680 hours of tutoring at Jackman Road. “These funds will cover the wages for approximately 16 high school students to provide 680 hours of tutoring to the students at Jackman Road,” Chrissy said.
Amy Driehorst moved that the board accept the donation; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all members voting yes and one member excused. The roll call as read recorded: Amy Bissle (yes), Amy Driehorst (yes), Cole (yes), Todd (excused), Megan (yes), Griffin (yes), and the chair voted yes.
The board also acknowledged Michigan tenure acquired by three Bedford teachers as read into the record. Megan moved the motion to acknowledge tenure for the listed teachers and the board approved the acknowledgement by voice vote.
Finally, the board approved a BEA new hire, bringing back Corey Bergmeister as a math at‑risk intervention instructor at Bedford Junior High School. Cole moved the motion to approve the hire; the board approved the hire by voice vote. Several members welcomed the hire and noted his familiarity with the district.
All three actions were presented as routine personnel and gift items and were adopted without extended debate.
