The Bedford Board of Education approved two facilities items: hiring Intertech Roofing Consulting to prepare design and construction documents for roofing work at Monroe Road Elementary and the senior high school, and buying a used 2024 Ford F-350 with about 10,000 miles for the facilities fleet.
Tom told trustees Intertech would deliver documents in December, the district would solicit bids in January, and the earliest work window for major roof projects is summer 2026; he characterized the roofing plan as a multi‑year effort to address shingled roofs and phased high-school sections. The board approved the hiring by roll call.
Tom also recommended purchasing the used truck from Broadies Ford to replace aging fleet vehicles; Cole moved the purchase and the board approved that motion by roll call.
Why this matters: Trustees said the district’s strengthened fund balance makes it possible to invest in facilities. Administrators said the roofing work and equipment purchases are part of scheduled capital maintenance and operational readiness.
What’s next: Intertech will complete documents and the district will issue an RFP; the board will return to accept construction bids and contract awards in a future meeting.
